Laura Ward, class of 2012
Next in our #HumansOfMuckross series is
Laura Ward (class of 2012)
" What I miss most about Muckross is seeing friends every day for 6/7 hours. In class or in the hallways we were just constantly messing and having a laugh. Even tough days weren’t so tough when you get to have a laugh with your friends"
" I think some of my favourite memories in Muckross were when we made food in Home Ec. Everyone would be running to each other trying to get some. Or when Ms.Lyons dressed up in the Muckross uniform at one of the Hocky Matches. Hilarious!! There was just always such a great atmosphere and good relationships between the teachers and students "
What is Laura up to now?
" Now I’m working full-time as a makeup artist and a HD brow stylist. When I left Muckross I wanted to study makeup and I’m sure a few people (including my parents) thought I was a bit mad! But I loved makeup and it just felt like it was the right step for me. I went on to study business as well but I was always working in makeup and it just worked for me. Amazing opportunities came along and I’m so so lucky to be able to say I absolutely love my job! "
Advice for your 18 year old self:
" Find out what you love and do that! Don’t let other people’s opinions affect what you do - what’s right for one person isn’t right for someone else. Trust your gut and always work hard - you can never be disappointed if you know you did your best. And if you’re feeling a bit lost and don’t know what to do, don’t worry because most people don’t figure that out in school! "
Thanks Laura, for your input. Very cool altogether!
